29% of Dorset’s population is 65 or over. The county has reached where the rest of the world will be in 2050. That level of “winning” is not ideal as per previous posts made here, and the NIMBYism will block any addressing of that balance and resources. You physically need people to be working in healthcare, in adult social services as people are living longer but medical conditions are also sustained longer by the fantastic medicines and treatments.
The area also needs to be a great place to live and be outside of work, which Dorset is, but that can decline if there are not enough people to keep the high streets, towns and villages enticing places to visit.
I have now seen this article on the Guardian web site as well.
